常問問題

  • Why does wax “pull away" from the candle glass, and does it adversely affect the candle?"
Wax "pull away" or separation from the glass in jar candles can sometimes occur due to variations in temperature. When a candle is in a colder environment, for example, the wax may contract a bit and this phenomenon is more noticeable. In a warmer environment the wax can expand and re-adhere to the glass. This is normal and can happen in any jar candle. It does not affect the fragrance, burn or soothing crackle of our VIVAWANG® candles.
  • What percentage fragrance oils do you use in your candles?
Virginia Gift Brand candles are highly fragrant, but the actual fragrance percentage doesn’t really matter. Why? Because a candle manufacturer can use a high percentage of a less expensive fragrance oil simply to make a marketing claim, and still not create a candle that fragrances well. Our candles are highly fragrant, and our focus is on how well they actually perform for our customers. We test each one for “cold throw”, or how much of the true fragrance character is present when you remove the lid and sniff, and especially for “hot throw”, or how well the candle fragrances a room while lit. Cold throw is the primary reason someone initially chooses a scented candle, while hot throw largely determines if they purchase again.
  • Do VIVAWANG® candles contain any animal derivatives?
No, VIVAWANG® candles do not contain animal derivatives or byproducts.
  • What’s so different about VIVAWANG® wooden wick with cotton wicks Flame candles?
VIVAWANG® Flame candles feature a natural wooden wick to create a long, dancing flame that crackles as it burns! Unique in the market, this concept creates an unparalleled ambiance.
  • What is the shelf-life of a VIVAWANG® jar candle?
Many factors can affect the shelf-life of a candle including exposure to sunlight as well as the specific fragrance and color. Since a candle’s appearance can eventually shift or fade over time depending on its environment, exposure to variations in temperature, direct sunlight, or other intense direct light such as a spotlight should be avoided. These factors should not, however, affect the fragrancing or burn characteristics of a VIVAWANG® candle.
  • Are VIVAWANG® candle fragrances safe to breathe every day?
VIVAWANG® candles are made to the highest quality and safety standards, and meet or exceed ASTM requirements as well as National Candle Association recommendations. We only work with fragrance vendors who comply with standards set by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). IFRA standards form the basis of a globally accepted and recognized risk management system for the safe use of fragrance ingredients, and they publish a list of usage standards for fragrance materials limiting or prohibiting the use of ingredients based on scientific studies.
  • What do I do if my VIVAWANG® candle smokes excessively during use?
Excessive candle smoking is generally caused by the presence of drafts, and by an improperly maintained wick. If a VIVAWANG® candle smokes excessively, make sure it is removed from any area where drafts (such as a fan) are present. For proper wick maintenance please extinguish the candle, allow the wax to cool, and gently break off any burned edges. The ideal wick height is about 1/8” to ¼”. Remove any wick or other debris before relighting. And always allow the candle to burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the container to avoid “tunneling”, or wax left on the sides of the jar, as this can cause the wick to self-extinguish during future use. The recommended burn time is 3-4 hours per use.
  • What do I do if my VIVAWANG® candle self-extinguishes during use?
This can be caused by excessive drafts or by a candle that has “tunneled”. If due to excessive drafts, remove the candle from any area where drafts (such as a fan) are present and follow proper relighting procedures. Sometimes candles can self-extinguish due to tunneling. Candles have a memory, which means that if during prior use the candle wax was not allowed to melt completely to the edges of the container, the wax that remained on the sides of the container can cause the wick to extinguish. To prevent this from happening, burn the candle 3-4 hours per use, and make sure the wax has melted completely to the edges of the container.
  • What is the best way to store my VIVAWANG® candle?
VIVAWANG® candles should be kept in a cool, dry place at room temperature (about 72 degrees Fahrenheit) away from direct sunlight, other light sources, and high humidity. They should always be stored upright with the lid or dust cover on the candle as dust on the wax surface can be a fire hazard.
  • Do I need to trim the wick of my VIVAWANG® candle?
If your candle begins to smoke excessively, or if the flame height exceeds 1½ inches it may be due to an improperly maintained wick. If trimming is necessary please extinguish the candle, allow the wax to cool, and gently break off any burned edges. The ideal wick height is about 1/8” to ¼”. Remove any wick or other debris before relighting. And always allow the candle to burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the container to avoid “tunneling”, or wax left on the sides of the container as this can cause the wick to self-extinguish. The recommended burn time is 3-4 hours per use.

  • How can I safely burn my VIVAWANG® candle?
VIVAWANG® candles are best enjoyed when burned the recommended 3-4 hours per use, and when the wax is able to melt completely to all edges of the container. Keep the wick trimmed to between ¼ and 1/8 inch. If the candle begins to smoke, or if the flame height is greater than 1½ inches, gently extinguish the candle, allow the wick and wax to cool, and trim the wick by gently breaking off any burned edges. Remove all wick trimmings before relighting. Keep the candle away from children, pets and things that may catch fire or cause drafts such as ceiling fans, air conditioning, or breezes. Never move or handle the candle while it’s burning or while the wax is hot. Pouring or removing liquid wax from the vessel can cause the wick to extinguish or “drown” in the wax. Keep the candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface. For your safety discontinue use when 1/2 inch of wax remains. Always burn a candle within sight.
